Peixes Nice: the next unique restaurant you should meet

With fresh fish of the Mediterranean sea and French preparation, you just can’t go wrong

We love when a dish represents a story, a region, rather than just being tasty.
they say that food that makes you reminisce a good experience from your past is the best kind.
That is exactly the case with restaurants like Peixes in Nice: it tells the story of the fish and the ocean.

Peixes is located meters away from the beach, just behind the Place Massena. It serves hundreds of diners each day, not only because of its location, but also thanks to its delicious French meals, that in this case goes hand in hand with the freshness the Mediterranean sea.

À Table

Once we got a table, we got a White Ceviche, ‘swimming’ in its lemon-passion fruit juice, surrounded by sweet potato purée.
This starter was as refreshing as a cube of ice in the middle of August. It was smooth both in taste and texture, bringing some fruitiness that hugged the fish as if it was its own skin. The cold purée was a brilliant side that gave the dish great harmony.

Next up were the duck breast and the cod fish.
The first was tremendously soft (demands careful preparation), and fitted perfectly to the pearl barley and prawns it sat on.
Equally great was the cod fish that was served inside a potato Espuma, a foam between purée, polenta and mousse. Truly genius stuff.
Underneath all that pleasure were hiding crispy stripes of sweet potato, whereas on top all was a delicate coat of olive powder. How can you go wrong with such creativity?

Nice to meet

Finally, we set ourselves up with a superb banana creme brûlée with cinnamon crumble at the bottom. What a success!

The quality of the dishes here was on another level, as was the attention to details and taste combinations. And on top of all, fish are as healthy as it gets – so it is a big win for our bodies as well.
