The Corona crisis is difficult for so many reasons we don’t need to explain. Shops are closed and the city that used to be so lively looks so dreary these days.
The search for some comfort is essential yet challenging to find.
However, in the middle of chaos we have found a sweet spot (literally): a totally new coffee and bakery in the center of Nice.
It is called Edmond Cafe and it caught our eyes immediately. Painted in a lovely combination of light blue and white, it is obvious that something good is going on.
La la land in the middle of a crisis
The lovely atmosphere continues inside where all is beautifully designed. The lovely couple, Nasrin and Jean who run the place, are as lovely as the place.
The inspiration we saw with our eyes reflects the dedication and courage of the owners.
Before we tell you how great the home made pastries are, it is worth to mention how shocked we were when Nasrin told us she started to bake only 2 years ago – with no prior experience.
“I was working in marketing and had no experience in baking” she says. “All my knowledge came from deep interest across the web and intensive practice”.
This is surprising considering the aesthetics, taste and charterer she gives to every product.
All is home made in the same day, (no freezing) and the pastries are changing constantly. What you saw today won’t be there tomorrow.
Down to business
Since the opening we had the chance to taste a chocolate chip cookie, vanilla-yuzu-strawberry cupcake, passion fruit vegan panna cotta, lemon cake.
How yummy was it? Let’s just say most of the pastries didn’t make it home and preferred to go to our stomachs. Every creation is different, yet all have a common signature by Nasrin.
Still in running phase, the bakery is offering only sweets and coffee for now. Soon it will start to sell salads and in after that other brunch dishes and sandwiches.
We recon that Nice is the best place to stay in quarantine in. We still have the sun and lovely landscapes, and now we have where to go to get the best sweet treats in town – and so do you.
